Royal Purple

Royal Purple

The New Shellbrook Royal Purple was instituted on Oct 28th 2019.    After covid was over and we could finally get to work in the community.

Our National Canadian Royal Purple has adopted brain injury awareness and prevention as their official cause and on Purple Thursday will work with brain injury associations and women’s groups in their communities across the country to raise awareness about the intersection of brain injury and interpersonal violence (IPV)

In our local community we are involved with students in the schools in Shellbrook and surrounding communities with hopes of educating them in the importance of protecting their heads. We have a poster contest in the month of March.   They can win a prize on each level.  Local, Provincial, and National.

We supply monthly bingo prizes to the Parkland Integrated Health Centre continuing care home

Hold a Senior tea in June to thank all our seniors who have helped build our great community

We support local families that are in distress

Support both schools and the food bank

Cater to funeral lunches

Play an integral part in Moonlight Madness

Present a Bursary to a grade 12 student each year

Sponsoring a Ladies Golf night in June

We have supported the Kinsmen pool

We have signs at both Curling Rink and 2 at the sports grounds

Our main services besides brain injury are helping where needed in our community especially children and seniors

We hold Royal Purple Week on the 3rd week in May.  A time to give thanks to those that have supported us throughout the year.

As everyone is aware, Interpersonal Violence is on the rise and in the news almost daily.   With Saskatchewan at the top of the list.  The Canadian Royal Purple were contacted by Women at The Centre in Ontario, wanting us to become involved in IPV with them as up to 80 % suffer from some level of brain Injury.  Often caused by strangulation.

Royal Purple now holds Purple Thursday x7 third week of October.  In this week we will take care bags to the shelters across Canada. Shellbrook Royal Purple takes their bags to the Women’s shelter in Prince Albert.  Watch for boxes in some of the businesses throughout Shellbrook for you to donate some of the items These care bags are filled with personal care items such as hair products, body wash and lotions, journals, books, scarves, mitts. Just to name a few.  When the victim flees often it’s with clothes on their back.    We would appreciate it if our town would join us starting the 3rd week of Oct and paint our town Purple, Let’s support these victims

We meet the 2nd Thursday of each month for our reg. meeting at the Seniors Hall at 7:30. We encourage men and women age 14 and up to join us.  To join just contact any member of our organization

We believe in Teamwork.  Everyone working together makes a stronger community.
